It's been a long, hard, shitty week. I feel like ass.
To remedy this, I found something I can't even believe exists. I'd heard about it, and I've finally found it in a sense.

Today was supposed to be a straightforward day, for Christ's sake. Set up 3 VMs to replicate a production environment, wait for servers to arrive for config and testing, and rebuild a PC - piece of cake, right? NO.
Despite me giving them a week to check that there was *nothing* they wanted saved from the old PC, I format it and - 2 minutes after the installer's running - find out that there's a database with 3+ years of phone call logs on there. That the partners of the company need to make a pretty important decision.
Oh well. Not MY fault. We don't support this crazy logging software, I gave them a week, AND they had an engineer come along to install the software on the new PC. Why, oh why, didn't he think to ask about the existing DB? Grah.

I'm due back in work tomorrow after 6 lovely, lazy days off.

BUT: I haven't been (completely) idle! I now have my very own email server. It is nifty, and I think I will call it "Boris". If anyone wants an address on it (with a couple of gig inbox..!) let me know and I'll see what I can do. This is all a learning experience for me too y'see. |
